A Chicago man accused of threatening to shoot up a synagogue and making antisemitic posts on X was freed on $100,000 bond over prosecutors' objection.

CHICAGO — A Chicago man is facing a felony charge after authorities say he shot and injured another man during a fight on the city’s Southwest Side over the weekend. According to Chicago police, 63-year-old Dennis White has been charged with one count of aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm.

Timothy Holmes, 31, is accused of writing, “I’m going to shoot up a synagogue,” on X in response to an official Israel account post about the death of Iran supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

An 18-year-old woman was shot and killed while walking with friends near Loyola University in Rogers Park Thursday morning, Chicago police said. A vigil was held on campus as students mourn the loss.
