Kentucky State University's faculty, staff, and students have made Kentucky State one of the finest public institutions in the Commonwealth, and among the best in the nation.

Founded in 1886 as the State Normal School for Colored Persons, and becoming a land-grant college in 1890, KSU is the second-oldest state-supported institution of higher learning in Kentucky.

KSU has more than 2,800 students, 450 faculty and staff members. The University’s student-faculty ratio is the lowest among public institutions of higher learning in the Commonwealth.
